Getting Your ENERGY INFORMATION Ready…
It is critical to have a history of your energy usage for at least the past 12 months available at the time of your inspection. This information will help guide the Analyst to potential issues while we are in the home, and is required for the preparation of your assessment.
If you are a PECO electric or gas customer, click here for directions on how to obtain this information.
If you are a PGW natural gas customer, click here for directions on how to obtain this information.
If you are an oil or propane customer, please have copies of your delivery bills available or request a summary of deliveries from your oil or propane supplier. Click here for a sample of what to ask for.
Getting Your HOME Ready…
- Pull up all the blinds and shades and draw back curtains.
- Close and lock all windows.
- Open all interior doors.
- Open garage door(s) if the garage is attached to the house.
- Remove any decorations from one exterior door (we will need to use a regular, non-sliding exterior doorway for our leakage testing equipment).
- Clean out open fireplaces (so that ashes are not disturbed when we move air through the home).
- Provide clear access to attics, basements, loft closets (“kneewall” doors) and/or crawlspaces. If these areas are used for storage, please make sure we can enter them sufficiently to perform a visual inspection.
- Provide clear access to heating and cooling systems. Please move storage items from the immediate area (this is also a good idea for safety reasons).
- If possible, clear the driveway so our Analyst’s vehicle can pull in close to the house (which will help us work more efficiently with our equipment).
- And finally, please let us know as soon as possible if your appointment needs to be rescheduled for any reason.
Thank you! These preparations will help us to focus on effectively identifying your energy and comfort improvement opportunities.
